Located on the leeward side of the
island of Kauai,
Waimea
High School was
established in 1882. It has a long-standing tradition of providing a safe
environment for students to learn, grow and achieve. The rich ohana (family) atmosphere encourages students to become
responsible and productive citizens that respect and value themselves as
well as others in the community.
Waimea
High School's average enrollment is 775 students. These students engage in
course work and activities that are designed to equip them with skills and
knowledge to meet the technological and societal challenges of the new
millennium.
Waimea High School offers a full curriculum with emphasis in vocational
education, college preparation, advance placement course work, as well as
pursuits in two foreign languages, Japanese and Spanish. All students are
enrolled according to their chosen career paths. Along with this full and
comprehensive exposure to academics, there are a number of co-curricular
activities and organizations that students can be involved with. These areas
include Student Government Committees, School Clubs Organizations.
We are continually proud of the excellence
demonstrated by our athletic programs. The effort and perseverance exhibited
by our athletes has provided a vehicle by which they can further advance
into accredited university and college settings.
